Job Before: Labourer
Job Now: Service Desk Engineer @ RoundWorks IT
Why did you start the Bootcamp?
Since being a teenager, I started gaining interest in technology which led me to take a course in IT and Computing at school, which continued at College. After completing my Computing course at College, I decided I did not want to go to University but did not know what my other options were. I happened to come across ITCareerSwitch one day when looking online at what my next step could be, I was instantly interested. I saw this Bootcamp ideal for me, I was able to work part-time, have a personal life and still do a Bootcamp to set me up in a career I want to pursue. Best decision I have ever made as it has allowed me to learn new skills, take responsibility and work towards my goals.
What did you enjoy most about the Bootcamp?
By far the best thing I enjoyed about the course was the flexibility. To add to this, it allowed me adjust to a new and improved routine which helped me not stress as much. Labs was also one of the most exciting parts because I got to put my knowledge into practice.
What's your current role like?
It took two long months but I finally managed to secure a job as a Service Desk Engineer for a company named RoundWorks IT. Iโm now surrounded with an amazing team of people who share the same passion and goals as me. We are an IT support and services provider for businesses of all types and sizes offering remote and onsite support. I started in August and I am loving every second of it; my job, my team, learning every day, going onsite and getting hands on experience.
